Wood Panel is a simple block that can be crafted without any facility. It is a block to get early on and to build with. However, it may be hard to get a lot of due to the fact that you don't get much Wood from trees without an Axe, which requires a Toolbench. Also, it can be broken easily by hostile creatures, so it is recommended to use Metal Walls if you want something more durable.

Building Tips
Wood Panel is a good starting block, in the early stages of base development. The Wood Panel is one of the few blocks, along with Thatch, that has a rustic style to it; if you want to make a shack, cottage, or whatever rustic build you want, this is the block for you.
